Lock up your food America!
I’m coming to town.
I turn 50 in November so am running away to the land of buttermilk biscuits, BBQ and banana pudding.
I’m gonna eat my way around America for seven weeks – from shrimp eutoffee in Lafayette to crab cakes in Baltimore to salmon for breakfast/lunch/dinner in Eugene.
But I’m going to do it mindfully. Which means I will not be:
- eating because it’s there (that’ll last 42 minutes)
- eating because it’s free (that’ll last 43 minutes – first stop Denny’s San Francisco … and you know what happens at Denny’s on your birthday)
- eating because I’m bored, tired or antsy
- going anywhere near Costco
- stuffing myself stupid.
Instead I will be:
- eating only when hungry (ie, all the time)
- stopping when full
- running every day
- losing weight.
I will also have an epiphany, around day 31, when I will decide what to do with the next 50 years of my life.
Which will not be writing blog sites seeing as it took me 28 weeks between WordPress course and starting this.
Over 49 days I will:
- visit 18 cities
- spend 33 hours on Qantas, 263 hours on Amtrak, 19 hours on Greyhound and 3 hours on American Airlines
- meet 261 people including 14 lovely Airbnb hosts
- walk 899 kilometres
- run 898 kilometres (23 to catch train/bus/plane)
- tour 1 Frank Lloyd Wright house, 1 Louisiana swamp and 1 Houston space centre
- write 48 blog posts
- take 697 photos
- lose my bags 3 times
- lose my temper 0 times (mindfulness).
